Queens Zoo

A bit of an untraditional spot, but it’s something different if you want a calm, low-key place that’s perfect for a daytime date. It’s in a nice area with walking paths and plenty of fresh air — the whole zoo takes about 30 minutes to an hour to explore, and it’s a chill spot to shmooze while checking out the animals. Tickets are only around $11. There’s also a park with benches right outside in the park if you want to sit and relax for a bit afterward. It’s also only a few minutes’ drive from Queens, where you can find kosher stores if you want to grab a drink for before or after the zoo. I stopped by "Jerusalem Bagels" — a simple spot with good shakes, smoothies, and drinks on the way back from the zoo.
